LEAD and STAR4Defense have been working together for years through research and painter training. After over a year of specific efforts, the Letterkenny Army Depot, in cooperation with Tiburon became an official STAR4Defense satellite site and began training painters in November 2009. Becoming a STAR4Defense satellite site shows a strong commitment to cost, quality, schedule and employee morale as well as the Depot’s mission to remain responsive to the Joint Warfighter while building quality and value into each program it supports. This training institute is a significant new capability for the Depot that will improve their products and service to the military.
Once all of LEAD's DA Civilian Painters are trained in 2010, the Depot will be opening up training availability to Department of Defense contractor organizations and private industry paint facilities.
Instructors
Denny Rosenberry
Contractor Instructor
Certified July 7,2008
Dennis has been painting for 46 years and 34 of those years were spent at Letterkenny Army Depot. His favorite part about his job is training painters the proper fundamentals of the painting field and watching them progress in just 3 days. At LEAD, Dennis paints MRAPS, generators, patriot missile systems, and tactical vehicles. One of Dennis’ most memorable moments at LEAD was when the Secretary of the Army gave him his personal medallion for his achievements. In his free time, Dennis enjoys restoring and painting old vintage vehicles, hunting, fishing, and playing golf.
Dennis sees the greatest benefit of the STAR4Defense satellite site is that it has allowed Letterkenny to tailor their training curriculum to fit its mission requirements and provide a convenient classroom to eliminate the cost of travel. According to Dennis;
"STAR4Defense’s contribution to our young men and women serving their country is in providing the soldiers with serviceable equipment that can withstand any type of exposure. This is obtained by providing the repair facilities with the proper techniques in applying the CARC system. STAR4Defense is the leader in this field!"
The STAR4Defense’s relationship with Letterkenny Army Depot has allowed them to have “the finest paint training programs available to the Armed services today.”
